Council funds Hwy. 61 amenities

The Lake City City Council voted 4-2 on Feb. 11 to dedicate $1.2 million for amenities associated with the 2020 reconstruction of Hwy. 61.

The amount is about $140,000 shy of the projected cost of the amenities package chosen by the council last year to spend on benches, lighting, and other features along the project route.

Most of the money, $730,000, will come from the city’s capital fund and represents the local government aid received from the state up to that point, according to the Feb. 11 agenda.
