Council pickleball offer follows recent trend

On March 8, the Lake City City Council offered local pickleball boosters roughly the same terms it has offered some other local groups seeking new amenities: raise half the cost and the city will pay the other half.

Pickleball is a net sport played with paddles on a court the size of a badminton court. Created in 1965, the sport has grown quickly in popularity in recent years, with the number of players estimated to be in the millions.
