Council taps Chamber to get lodging tax money

The Lake City Chamber of Commerce will be the recipient of the city’s lodging tax revenues this year.

The three percent tax is levied on short term rentals like hotel rooms and vacation rentals by owner. In recent years it has generated over $60,000. The city retains 5 percent for administrating the tax, the rest goes to one or more organizations to promote tourism in accordance with state law.
