County grants from ‘business relief’ funding total $426,000

When Wabasha County received about $426,000 from the State of Minnesota for COVID-19 relief, it decided to establish a grant program to provide direct payments to businesses and non-profits impacted by the pandemic.

Demand for the grants was more than double what was available.

According to Carolyn Holmsten, the county’s interim administrator, requests for grants totaled more than $860,000.
