Crest leaves mess but could have been worse

By the time you read this, Mississippi River levels at Lake City will most likely be on their way down.
The crest of 17.63 feet came sometime Monday, according to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service. The service expected water levels to make steady downward progress over the next week.
