Deal to rent former public safety building falls through

The former Lake City public safety building will not be the temporary headquarters for the Highway 61 reconstruction project after all.

On Feb. 10, the Lake City City Council approved a lease agreement with Rochester Sand and Gravel for space in the building for the duration of the project.

But Rochester Sand and Gravel never signed the lease, according to City Administrator Rob Keehn, and has instead decided on something smaller after an amendment to the contract.
