Free CodeRED service provides snow emergency notifications

The accumulation of snow in the Lake City area earlier this week was a grim reminder that winter is on its way.

And winter usually means snow—sometimes a lot of it.

A snow emergency is declared after a snowfall of more than four inches. Plowing typically starts on the snow emergency routes first, and then go to side streets, according to the City of Lake City website.
