Goodhue County commissioners decline to impose transporatation sales tax

The one-half of one percent sales tax proposed by the Goodhue County Public Works Department at the September 5 meeting failed to pass at the County Board meeting in Red Wing on Sept. 19.

Upon the request of Barb Stussy, and others in attendance at the public hearing two weeks earlier, the board had agreed to delay a vote on the optional sales tax for two weeks so others could weigh in on how they felt about the proposal.

Commissioner Brad Anderson had suggested delaying a vote on the sales tax until January, after the 2018 budget was set.
