Goodhue County considers solar moratorium

Commissioners discussed placing a moratorium on large solar projects within Goodhue County but after hearing from staff on April 2 took no action. The matter will go to the Planning Commission.

Staff “at this time do not feel we should be putting a moratorium on or initiating that conversation until we meet in April,” said Lisa Hanni, Land-use Management director.

There are three types of solar: residential, commercial (on businesses) and utilities (primarily installed to sell electricity). The moratorium would be for utility solar.
