Lincoln High School physical education teachers Mary Mann and Tom Horner met briefly between second and third period Dec. 11.
The rapidity with which a heart rate decreases from its peak can be a barometer of cardiovascular health. A slow rate of decline can be a sign of trouble. Mann and Horner were concerned because the heart rate of a student had actually increased.
They made plans to try to duplicate the results. If they do, the student’s parents will be notified so they can arrange for further testing.
