Lake City approves 2019 levy

The Lake City City Council unanimously approved a 3.58 percent levy increase.

The vote was 6-0. Council Member Greg Schreck was absent.

In a Truth In Taxation presentation before the vote, Amy Hove said rising property valuations mean the tax rate in Lake City is actually decreasing to its lowest rate in five years.

According to a chart in Hove’s presentation, Lake City’s tax rate is slightly lower than average for area cities.
