Lake City council to get public safety building plans

The City Council voted 4-3 Monday night to request plans and specifications for a new Public Safety Building.

The next step, once plans are received and approved, will be to seek bids for construction.

The new building will be located on city-owned property on North 10th Street roughly across the street from Underwood Park.

City Administrator Mark Sievert said it is possible the city could award bids in time for construction work to begin this fall.

The split decision may end more than a dozen years of debate and delay on the new facility.
