Lake City Police issue crime alert after rash of package theft reports

An rash of reports of thefts of and from packages outside homes in Lake City has police on alert. They are offering advice for people who want to safeguard their deliveries.

Since Tuesday the Lake City Police Department has received four reports of thefts involving packages delivered in Lake City. Sometimes the packages were opened and items were missing. In other cases the packages themselves were gone.

The most recent report came in at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, according to Lake City Police Sgt. Bill Weist.
