Legislators lend support to Samuelson stamp campaign

Efforts to convince the U.S. Postal Service to issue a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of Ralph Samuelson’s invention of water skiing on Lake Pepin next year got a boost from the nation’s capital.

A Lake City native, Samuelson invented the sport here on July 2, 1922. Lake City is celebrating the anniversary next year along with the city’s 150th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the town festival Water Ski Days.
