New home, new food shelf

When the Lake City Food Shelf settled into its new facility at the end of 2014, it became in a sense a new food shelf.

The building, in which the community food shelf is completing its first full year of operation, has allowed for several improvements, Director Carole Helgerson said.

The new building allows for better organization of supplies.

“It’s every efficient and the volunteers find it very easy the way things are set up, to quickly wait on clients and fill their orders,” she said.
