No bids for city farmland

No bids were submitted on over 70 acres of farmland owned by the City of Lake City by the Jan. 24 deadline, City Administrator Rob Keehn told the city council at its Feb. 10 meeting.

The city originally purchased the land in Lake Township as a place to spread material from its sewage treament plant. That usage was controversial, and subsequent upgrades at the plant made it unnecessary. Since then the city has leased the land to farmers.
