Permit numbers spiked, but their values decreased in 2019

Home construction is down from a peak a few years ago, but flat fee permits have nearly doubled from a year ago.

Those are two of the data points from the Lake City Planning and Community Development Department’s annual report, which was on the agenda for the city’s planning commission Tuesday night.

Building permits for single-family housing hit a high of 22 in 2017 but dipped to 12 in 2018 and 13 in 2019, according to the report.
