Police issue notification, offer to answer questions on sex offender

On Dec. 29, the Lake City Police Department notified the public that Theodore Benjamin Leisen, a Level 3 sex offender, will be taking up residence in the 500 block of West Marion Street as of Jan. 1.

State law allows police departments to notify the public of a Level 3 registrant’s release from prison or secure treatment facility when it believes such a release will enhance public safety and protection, according to a fact sheet accompanying the announcement.
