Private-public partnership to trim shoreline trees

The view of Lake Pepin along Highway 61 on the north edge of Lake City will be improved this spring, with the help of a private contribution.

Trees growing along the lakeshore will be pruned to provide a better view of the lake from the highway.

The city will hire a tree trimming contractor to complete the work, hopefully yet this spring, Public Works Director Scott Jensen said.

The cost of the trimming will be covered half by the city and half by a gift of $3,000 to the city from Mark and Kathy Nichols, owners of the AmericInn of Lake City.
