Public projects, lawsuit were year's biggest stories

A lawsuit against one of the city’s largest employers and three major public projects dominated the news for much of the year.

In February, Dr. John Renelt filed suit against his former employer, Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City, alleging retaliation and defamation. Mayo has denied the claims.

A hearing on a motion for summary judgment was held Nov. 7, according to state court records. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 5.

The City of Lake City completed one major project and embarked on another.
