School board extends winter break to aid overwhelmed teachers

Christmas break is coming early to Lake City Public Schools.
On Monday, Dec. 20, the School Board voted unanimously not to hold classes on Dec. 23, Jan. 3, Jan. 4, and Feb. 7 in response to reports from teachers, particularly at Bluff View, that they need help.
In response to a proposal from school administrators to eliminate some late starts and instead give staff two staff development days - one in January and one in February - school board members said they believed it wasn’t enough.
