School district could take over Lake City’s summer rec program

The City of Lake City and Lake City Public Schools could be nearing a deal that would see the school district take over youth summer recreation programming that the city has managed for decades.

Discussions about the possibility have been ongoing for years.

The city has shown an interest in stepping aside because managing the program isn’t one of the city’s core competencies, City Administrator Rob Keehn has said.
