School may take over city's summer rec program

Talks between the City and Lake City and Lake City Public Schools about the school district taking over management of the city’s summer recreation program are still just talks, both sides say, at least for now.

But both sides are also looking seriously at the prospect for its possible administrative efficiencies and a technological replacement for an event aimed at parents that many would rather avoid.

The current summer rec program looks a lot different today than when Shawn Sweeney became the summer recreation director for the city in 1983.
