State grant helps city remove and replace ash borer-infested trees

The City of Lake City has been moving fast during the recent warm spell to remove ash trees infested with emerald ash borer from city boulevards.
Emerald ash borer is an invasive insect from Asia that burrows into trees. Because North American trees have no natural defense against the bugs, infestation is usually fatal. And dead standing ash trees can pose a safety hazard.
