Tigers baseball gets eliminated in round one of subsection 6-1
The No. 7 seed Lake City Tigers baseball team traveled to La Crescent May 22 to take on the No. 2 seed La Crescent Lancers and were defeated 6-1.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with two outs Lake City strung together three consecutive singles by Josh Matanich, Jake Wohlers and Hunter Grimm.
Matanich scored on the Grimm hit.
In the third inning, the Tigers led off the inning with Ben Nutt getting to second base on a fielding error. Matanich lined a doubled and Nutt was thrown out at the plate on a very close play.
