Updated: Fire department grieves, honors departed member

Sirens wailed, lights flashed, and cannons fired in the Tuesday night darkness to honor Lake City firefighter Clayton Brandt, who died that evening.

According to the Lake City Fire Department Facebook page, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Brandt was removed from the vehicle and taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City before being airlifted to St. Marys in Rochester. He died not long after being removed from life support at 7:18 p.m.
