Utility late fees, disconnections set to resume

Last year, as the pandemic worsened, the City of Lake City suspended late fees and disconnections for utility customers that were past due.

On March 8 city staff informed the City Council that the city intends to begin notifying customers with past-due balances that late fee charges and disconnections will resume.

“Now that things have improved many cities have reinstituted late fees and have been or are planning to do utility disconnections,” according to the council agenda.
