Villa Maria reimagined as 'wilderness boutique hotel'

A company that prides itself on restoring historic buildings to prominence presented a vision for the Villa Maria to the Florence Township Board on Jan. 17.
John and Stephanie Rupp of St. Paul-based Commonwealth Properties told the board they are considering converting the former convent, girls school and retreat center into a “wilderness version of a boutique hotel” with a restaurant and space for corporate events onsite.
