Wabasha County sales tax to be considered

A possible one half of one percent increase in the sales tax in Wabasha County will get an airing in the next couple of weeks.

The Wabasha County Board will consider adding the tax at its Oct. 20 meeting.

A public hearing will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 in the commissioners meeting room at the courthouse in Wabasha.

If the tax is established, revenue would remain in Wabasha County and can be used for maintaining and rebuilding the county road system.

A half percent increase would bring the local sales from 6.875 percent to 7.375 percent.
