Warmer weather allows city to speed up tree removal, replacement

A warm and relatively snow-free winter so far has enabled the City of Lake City to remove numerous ailing trees on city boulevards, most infested with emerald ash borer.

In the two weeks leading up to Dec. 20, the city took down about 75 trees on city right-of-way, City Public Works Director Scott Jensen said, and more have come down since, leaving just 50 or fewer ash trees in these areas.
