Wener becomes first woman hired as full-time police officer in Lake City

Monday, Jan. 9, was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a fitting day for history to be made at the Lake City Police Department.

The Lake City City Council unanimously approved the hire of Bryttany Wener as a full-time police officer in Lake City. Wener, who previously worked at the Plainview Police Department, is the first woman to serve the department in that role.

In brief remarks to the council at the beginning of the meeting, Police Chief Cory Kubista went over the history of women in the police department.
