Land sale should end up on the ballot or in court

Having been in the urban development business, and having served on Lake City’s Charter Commission, I have followed news of the Conoco site with interest.

I am appalled at how that publicly owned and charter protected heritage Conoco land is offered up as a private development opportunity bargain. By city charter, public properties in the charter’s lakefront protection zone cannot be sold without public approval by voter referendum.
