Councilmember: Benefits far outweigh costs of Hwy. 61 project
To the editor:
The highway 61 project continues to elicit very strong opinions. I voted (twice) for the highway to be converted to a three-lane, and I’d like to tell you why.
Background:
In 2015 Minnesota Department of Transposition (MnDOT) conducted a study on US Highway 61 traffic flow from Hok-Si-La Park Road to Elm Street to identify ways to improve safety and traffic flow. The outcome of the US Highway 61 study was to recommend converting the existing highway section into a three-lane section with enhanced pedestrian features.
