Lucinda Peters obituary

Lucinda “Cindy” Peters, 74, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at Elysian Senior Home in Lake City, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on February 22, 1952, in Wabasha, Minnesota, Cindy was the daughter of Clem and Leona (Freese) Kreye. On October 2, 1971, she married the love of her life, Jon Peters, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly 55 years and was centered on family, friendship, and unwavering devotion.
Cindy had a gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and celebrated. Whether through her talent for decorating, planning family gatherings, or simply sharing a conversation and a laugh, she turned ordinary moments into special memories. She never needed a holiday or special occasion to make someone feel important. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and open doors.
Family was the center of Cindy’s world. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren and took great joy in creating memories together. She also loved traveling and visiting some of her favorite destinations, including family vacations to Disney and Valleyfair. She could often be found cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Green Bay Packers, especially when surrounded by family and friends.
Those who knew Cindy will remember her generous heart, her caring spirit, and her ability to bring people together. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her legacy lives on through the family and friends she loved so deeply.
Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Jon; her children, Jessica (Brian) McQuade of River Falls, Wisconsin, Jonny (Jenni) Peters of Austin, Texas, and Mike (Christine) Peters of Eitzen, Minnesota; her beloved grandchildren, Chase and Landon McQuade and June Peters; her brother, Bruce Kreye of Northfield, Minnesota; and her sister, Carol Thornton of Lake City, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Leona Kreye; her brothers, Norman and Clem “Sonny” Kreye; and her sister, Phyllis Kenneback.
An Open House celebrating Cindy’s life will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, in Lake City. A private family burial will be held at St. Felix Cemetery in Wabasha.
