Andru Peters - City Council Candidate

Having spent many years living in this community and over the generations watched how the city has changed over five generations, and observed the success, limitations and failure of initiatives. Some initiatives implemented were good for the city, while others were “nice to have”, but, other than satisfying few citizens desire; the culture enrichment of the city has suffered. Becoming a historian on the Minnesota National guard encampment at Camp Lakeview over 50 years, revealed much on how Lake City became a prominent city in Minnesota in its’ early years 1881 - 1931. With the Camp in place for a 50-year period we saw on a daily basis 13 round trip Milwaukee Road trains and five passenger paddle wheelers bringing between 6,000 – 10,000 visitors every week during the encampment periods.
