Oct 9, 2024
By Kim Gyuricsko
Foley, Al.
I wanted to thank the City and advocates for the new dog park.
This park is a wonderful and a very needed addition to my favorite town! It’s in a great site, is very clean and generally a lovely space. My only suggestion for improving it might be water and more picnic...
Ohl: National Anthem
Oct 2, 2024
Nineteen-year-old Miss Bloomington, MN, Stephanie Nilson sang the National Anthem at a Twins-Orioles game years ago. She experienced the usual ballpark delayed feedback of her voice from the public address system. She got as far as, “Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave?” and blanked...

Let’s talk about Geraldine Tyler. She’s a 94-year-old woman from Minneapolis who found herself in a tough spot. Ms. Tyler lost her home after falling behind on property taxes. She owed about $2,300 in property taxes on her one-bedroom condo, which grew to about $15,000 with interest and fees....

Do candidates reflect our values?
Sep 25, 2024
We are coming to the close of another election cycle now. Voting is already underway. In a recent election cycle, we were asked to “vote for rural Minnesota values”. I’ve noticed that slogan is not in the campaign material this year. Have our rural Minnesota values changed? Did the voters...
Ohl: Saved By Harvey
Sep 18, 2024
I have become deceptive in my senior years. Months ago, I turned the adjustment screw on the bathroom scale so it showed a negative 8 pounds. Stepping on it I would see a weight displayed I could live with even though the scale still made the same loud, creaking sound. I was hoping to forget the...
