Anderson narrowly misses berth in Junior Olympics, Junior Worlds

Lake City High School junior and Frontenac resident Eric Anderson will compete in Quebec, Canada, and Maine next month after strong performances in qualifying events for two nordic (or cross-country) skiing sports.

In biathlon, which combines shooting marksmanship with ski racing, Anderson competed at the Youth and Junior World Trials, held at Mount Itasca in Minnesota from Dec. 26 through Dec. 31.

Anderson finished fifth among athletes eligible for the Youth Olympics, two places shy of qualifying for a spot for the Youth Olympics in Korea.
