Boys 2-2, girls 1-3 in Pacesetter tourneys

The Lake City boys basketball team won two of four games at the Pacesetter Sweet 16 Championships last weekend, officially placing second in Division II.

The Sweet 16, in its 30th year, is an invitational event putting some of the top teams in each class — 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A — in the same tournament, held at College of St. Benedict’s near St. Cloud.

In pool play Saturday, the Tigers lost to Wayzata 68-60 and beat Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 83-64. Wayzata is the reigning Class 4A state champion and won the overall Sweet 16 crown.
