High school nordic club skis for fun, fitness and (maybe) competition

About two-dozen high school students stood in a circle in the parking area at Frontenac State Park on Jan. 14. Each one said their age and told a little about themselves.
Most were from Lincoln High School, the other eight were from the Math and Science Academy, a charter school in Woodbury.
If this were a pre-competition ritual, it would be an odd one. But though the teams were ostensibly gathered for a nordic skiing time trial, competition was a low priority.
