Sportsman's club fishing contest catch is largest in years

The Lake City Sportsman’s Club ice fishing contest went on as planned in tempuratures well above freezing Saturday.

Hundreds gathered on the 14-inch thick ice to fish and participate in contests and other activities.

Maybe it was warm water, maybe it was the structure provided by fish cradles sunk in the area by the club in the past few years or some mixture of the two. Whatever it was, the fish were biting like they haven’t been in many years.
