The Lake City Tiger baseball team lost their season opener Monday as they were defeated by Hayfield 4-1 at Bill Kieffer Field.
Timely hitting by the Vikings and the lack of clutch hitting by the Tigers was the difference in the game. Lake City was outhit 9-5, but nine Tigers walked, and they left 13 runners on base.
Lake City pitchers Thomas Lewis and Jarret Thomas pitched well as they combined for 10 strikeouts and only three walks, but Hayfield managed to get the hits when they needed them.
