Tigers struggle on offense loss to Chatfield

Freshman Sam Backer rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns as Chatfield won its homecoming game 28-6 over Lake City. A mistake laden contest that lasted nearly three hours featured eight combined turnovers and over 160 yards in penalties.
The teams exchanged fumbles in the opening minute of the contest as Reid Gastner opened the game at quarterback for the Tigers. The Gophers got on the scoreboard midway through the first as Sam Backer broke free for a 36-yard touchdown run.  A successful point after kick by AJ Karver made it 7-0 with 6:00 left in the opening quarter.
