Two Tigers tennis players off to state

The Lake City doubles tandem of Ava Wallerich and Ashley Thieren are headed to state.

Individual play in the Section 1A Tennis Tournament for singles and doubles players began Oct. 13 in Rochester.

Wallerich and Thieren won easily in their first round match at doubles 6-2, 6-1 over Victora Moorman and Emme Fry of New Life Academy.  In the second round, they won a tough battle against Mckenna Bauer and Grace Rutler of Cannon Falls 7-6 (5) tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-2.  

In the semifinals Oct. 20 they lost to Rachel Kamath and Clare Palen of Rochester Lourdes 1-6, 4-6.
