Varsity bowling team qualifies for its first trip to state

The Lake City High School bowling team is bound for state after winning the conference rolloff championship in Wabasha over the weekend.

The No. 2 seed varsity team took on Preston in the first round, winning 3-0 in the best of five format. In the second round they bowled a very strong Pine Island team. The match had to be decided in the last game, with Lake City coming out on top with a 177-140 win to get back to the championship.

Standing in the way of the team’s first trip to state was Winona, who had beaten the Tigers the week before.
