Lake City photographer Ben Threinen’s attempt to get a close-up of an eagle at the Lake City Sportsman’s Club was foiled when his subject, apparently deciding he had gotten too close, took flight. Threinen managed to get this photo of the bird leaving its perch.

What a difference a day makes. On April 2, photographer Ben Threinen went back to the spot near Ohuta Beach where just a day earlier he captured a dramatic competition among eagles for a fish on the ice and instead found some bufflehead ducks paddling along.
