70-year legion members look back

Three members of the Lake City American Legion Post received 70-year membership plaques on March 2.

Donald Palmer, 96, served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. His World War II service took him from India to Morocco and up into Italy.

Babe TerBorch, 91, served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. As a shopkeeper second class, he manned the supply depot on Manus Island in the Pacific Ocean “until the bomb dropped,” he said, referring to the nuclear bombing of Japan.
