Lake City hospice project gets a hearing

A proposal for what Lake City Mayor Mark Nichols said would be the largest tax abatement in city history will get a public hearing.

The Lake City City Council approved the measure Sept. 11 in one of two votes relating to a proposed hospice facility in the Jewel development.

Developer Scott LeFavre told the council the 12-room facility would cost between $6 and $7 million to build and would have annual payroll of about $1.5 million.
