Caring for pets in cold weather

The Hiawatha Aminal Humane Society doesn’t have a Pet of the Week for this week, so it’s sharing tips from Faunology to keep your pets safe in cold weather.

1. Provide Warm Shelter - Ideally, your pets should live the majority of their lives inside with you. It is most critical in the winter. Though your cat or dog may want to hang out in the yard, they have a much harder and more dangerous time in the winter’s freezing temperatures. Walks are best taken early in the daylight. Know your pet’s limits and make their outside activities shorter as well.
