City should find alternative to glyphosate

Why is the City of Lake City again using poison (glyphosate) in our town to kill the vegetation around trees in our parks, around sign posts, around structures such as the public library, the steps across from the post office in Patton Park, etc.?
The chemical is dangerous to our health. The exposed ground around the trees and structures is conducive to erosion and it looks ugly.
