Halvorson: Life's circle
Life is like a circle. We started married life in a two-room apartment.
It was about the time servicemen were getting discharged from the service and housing was almost impossible to find.
Wedding presents were different back then. We thought we needed at least one set of dishes for eight and most of my friends got at least a start of a set of sterling flatware. Many of the gifts were crystal including stemware (tall).
We thought we’d “arrived” when we could entertain with fancy linen tablecloths.
